Marvellous Max and a magnificent flying machine

Soar in a Spitfire; support Addenbrooke’s

Here at Aerial Collective, we often talk about preserving the iconic aircraft we are privileged to operate, and how we are proud to be keeping these pieces of history alive. Then sometimes we get the opportunity to bring the past into the present, and our contribution to Team Max Fundraising does just that; by donating a flight in an historical Spitfire as a raffle prize to support the ongoing work of the Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust. Team Max Fundraising was started by Max’s parents, and here is his mum Jodie, telling their story:

“In June 2010, at the age of two, our son Max was diagnosed with blood cancer. I was five months pregnant at the time with our daughter India and our world just fell apart. Max underwent a gruelling regime of over three years of chemotherapy, steroids and antibiotics at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. He caught many infections due to being so weak from the treatment and we spent months in isolation. It was a long, hard journey but thanks to the incredible team at the Hospital, Max is now a fighting fit 11-year-old.

Max has always been a plane enthusiast; in fact, his first word was ‘aero’ (aeroplane) and when he was poorly, we would drive him to the airport to watch planes take off and land. When he was too ill to leave the hospital, we would take him to the top floor to try and watch any passing planes. We owe so much to Addenbrooke’s and through an urge of feeling so helpless to help Max, his family and friends formed Team Max Fundraising to help him and other children going through hell.

We are currently trying to raise enough to assist Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust in paying for a Nursery Nurse for Children’s Services. Max’s love for planes led us to Duxford, and we were absolutely blown away when Aerial Collective offered us a flight in a Spitfire to help us raise the much-needed funds. This generosity and kindness is sure to propel us to our target.

By selling tickets for the draw at £10, we hope that as well as raising lots of money for the hospital, we will also see one lucky winner’s dream come true with this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The only problem Max sees with this is that he is too young to enter!

Thank you so much Aerial Collective!”

We are so proud that we are able to support this incredibly important cause, and to everyone who dreams of an adventure above the clouds but never thought they would be able to have one, we urge you to purchase a raffle ticket. You never know, you may get to experience the flight of a lifetime, all while raising funds to help children just like Max.
